H.R. 837: Internet Stopping Adults Facilitating the Exploitation of Today’s Youth Act (SAFETY) of 2007

The bill came from the House of Representatives and the bill number is 837. This bill was referred to a  “subcommittee on crime, terrorism, and homeland security.”

THERE IS NO POWER OF CONGRESS THING. :]

The purpose of the bill is to stop adults from exploiting the youth on the internet, as well as other purposes. This bill helps the youth from being exposed to the whole world because of adult predators.

I thinkt that this bill should be passed because if is good for people’s safety. Everyday somebody is harrased by people on the internet or shown to the world on the internet. People are dieing because of this, they commit suicide because of dangerous things going on on the internet.A girl committed suicide because of this. A mother pretending to be a sixteen-year old boy who was hitting on the girl. This was all because the mother wanted to find out if the girl was talking bad about her daugher. The mother turned bad on the girl, giving her mean comments about herself, and the girl committed suicide. We need to do something about this. Innoccent people are getting hurt and exploited to the world because of adults and other people,too.

The bill was represented in the Senate and the number is 1210. The title of the bill is “A bill to extend the grant program for drug-endangered children. ” It is currently in the Senate Judiciary committee. The bill was created to extend a program to help drug-endangered children. In other words, they want to help children dealing with drugs or who have parents dealing with drugs and are affected by it. There aere no Power of Congress, so far.  I think that this bill should be passed, but it can have some changes to help the children out a bit. The bill is needed because nowadays kids and adults revolve around drugs.

Presidental Powers

National Security Powers:

  • Serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. He can authorize the use of troops overseas without declaring war. To declare war officially, though, he must get the approval of the Congress.
  • Makes treaties with other nations; however, the Senate must approve any treaty before it becomes official.
  • Nominates ambassadors, with the agreement of a majority of the Senate.
  • Receives ambassadors of other nations, thereby recognizing those lands as official countries.

This power is very important because ever since 9/11, people have been trying to be safe and all. Now people are worrying about it a lot and people do want a safe America for all, don’t they? This power also includes peace with other nations which is good too.

 

Legislative Powers:

  • Presents information on the state of the union to Congress.
  • Recommends legislation to Congress. Despite all of his power, the President cannot write bills. He can propose a bill, but a member of Congress must submit it for him.
  • Convenes both houses of Congress in special sessions.
  • Approves laws passed by Congress. 

This law is important because it has fair things for the people. Like the president, he cannot write bills. This is good because then the president won’t be able to do whatever he wants to do. The president can also make bills that are bad, but thanks to this, he can only propose a bill, not make it.

Administrative Powers:

  • “Take care that the laws be faithfully executed” — Article II, Section 3
  • Appoints the heads of each Executive Branch department as Chief of the Government. He also appoints ambassadors, Supreme Court Justices, and other officials, with the agreement of the majority of the Senate.
  • Requests written opinions of administrative officials.
  • Fills administrative vacancies during congressional recesses.

This law means that the United States can make treatys and peace with other countries, so then the world can be a happy place and there will be no more of those bloody wars :]

Judicial Powers:

  • Grants reprieves and pardons for Federal crimes (except impeachment).
  • Appoints Federal judges, with the agreement of the majority of the Senate.

This law means that when the president has a meeting, he has to include anyone involved in it…or else. :] This law is important because then nobody can feel left out and all the houses can agree on the same stuff.

I feel happy and excited for what is coming up for Obama as president. It’s pretty nerve-racking because we get to live to see who is the first black president in the history of America, which is awesome! :] I also feel a bit nervous and scared because there are rumors saying that they will try to assasinate him if he becomes president. Hopefully, that won’t happen. The resluts went the way they did because lets admit it, Obama is better. He said all he had to say and he gave it his best for the people to vote for him. People didn’t vote as much for McCain because one 1. Sarah Palin  and 2. They know nothing about the economy and 3. They suck. Those are just my opinions though. What would happen now? I really don’t know, its not like I can see into the future or something. But, lets just hope for the best to our new president, Obama. :]

1. In this political cartoon, there is a depressed John McCain, standing alone in what seems to be a big room with empty chairs. There is also a sign announcing what the meeting is about.

2. I think that this cartoon means how people do not want a president who doesn’t talk about issues but about other people. In this case, it shows how silly McCain is for talking bad about Obama.

3. The message would be my repsonse for question two. People do not want a silly president, they want a strong president who does what they actually say.

4.I would have to say Democrat because he drew McCain alone as he had a conference meeting about how Obama was bad, I guess. It looks like he or she supports Obama.

Uh, well this is my freeform blogging thingy, number one, of course. I have some opinions on the debate, and I will tell my opinions to the person sitting next to me (MYRTHA :] ) and she will ,hopefully, give me her opinions and I will write them down.

In my opinion, Barack Obama will win because it seems as if everyone is going to vote for him. Though some people are not sure about who to vote for, I’m guessing they should vote for Obama. People may have negative thoughts about him, but, hey, he seems like a good guy and he seems like the kind of president America needs right now. America is struggling, always has been and always will be. Hopefully, Barack Obama can change that. John McCain is a selfish little old mad. No, I’m just kidding, haha. But, seriously. He is like friggen 80-ish (or higher) years old, he’s might die soon. Old men have confused thoughts, and he is just like an older version of Bush. He needs to realize that his day will be coming, he will probably be missed, but who knows?

The Preamble

The Preamble:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice,insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

“Form a more perfect union.”

This quote from the Preamble means to me that we should be creating a better enviroment, a better America for all. The quote also is saying that people should help out so we can live in a better community. America was never good, never bad either, but not perfect. The quote is saying to make it a perfect America. There is no such thing as a “perfect America”, actually, there is no such thing as perfect. This is just my opinion, though, people think different things.

I am not sure that they would both live up to the quote. I mean, I wouldn’t say Obama, but I wouldn’t say McCain either. We cannot forsee the future, nobody will truly know what they will bring to the States. I would though, prefer Obama as our president because he tells us that he wants change, and I think we all want change, too. McCain, on the other hand, wants to make things worse. Then again, that is just my opinion.

I was looking around my fellow student’s blogspace, and came upon Myrtha’s blog. I read her blog and found out that she has the same opinion as me. She says that John McCain was always talking about how Obama’s plans would fail. But, what if he wins and he fails, huh? Now, looks how talking. I think that he shouldn’t be talking about Obama’s plan, it shows that he has nothing else to say but talk bad about Obama. Obama, being the good person he is, is simply taking it in, but not doing anything about it because he is mature, unlike McCain( that wiener).

My opinion:

Wow, a lot of people are voting for John McCain. I find it sort of shocking that people might actually vote for him because I see people supporting Barack Obama a lot. Like, take it as in example, I was walking to Cold Stones (bomb ice cream :] ) and there were so many people with Barack Obama on their shirts. I mean I really don’t see people having John McCain on their shirts, do I? No, and possibly never will unless I go to Texas or Alaska, were most people support him. I, my friend, support him all the way.
